Patchwork Madras Shep Shirt!

Hey all! Still dying from my final final exams but still alive haha :)

I'm loving the Patchwork Madras Shep Shirt from vineyard vines!

Patchwork Madras Shep Shirt

I already have a light blue and pink shep shirt, but this really makes me consider buying a second one...

Thoughts?

Post-Graduation Plans: It's Okay

So I know I have been MIA.
But with graduation quickly approaching, I was literally being swamped with work.
Finals on top of extracurriculars on top of job search...

job search? *gulp*

via

I'm going to be honest with you.

I'm not sure what I'm doing next year.

I had a plan, and then at the last minute, it fell through. I cried for a while. But then it was okay.
Everyone keeps on asking me, "Oh, Tori, what are you doing next year?" Or "You're doing ____ right?" For a while, I would want to shrink away, but then I realized.

It's okay.

I don't need to know what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I don't even have to have a "job"right out of college.
I'm not going to apply for a position that I'm not enthusiastic for just because I need a steady paycheck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not planning to have my parents support me.
I work four jobs at college. I worked six days and nights a week high school senior summer and almost every summer after that. As of right now, I won't be "full-time" but I will be working 40 hours/week plus a night job. This is what I realized: I don't have to have my life set right this moment.

I just don't feel the need to dive right into a "full time job." I have enough time to take a shot at what I want to do. I'll work for the summer, save some money, and decide.

I know that this is a daunting thing for a lot of people, but it's okay.
Especially in the non-science industry, a lot of kids leave college, get an internship somewhere, and then obtain a full time job from there or get enough experience to go somewhere else after making the connections. It's not a crazy thought.

A decade ago, people might have expected us to do differently, but it's 2013.
I'm not going to let the 90's or 80's expectations dictate what I do this day, this year.
It's unnerving for some people, I know. Because I'm worried too.
Which means those who like to have plans must be even more worried.

But then, I think. I tell myself that I will take on each day, one at a time, and think about what I want to do, and apply to the jobs I didn't have time to apply to this semester because I was simply too busy.

And then, I kind of feel okay about it.
Of course, to those who know what they are doing this summer onward- congratulations!
And to those like me who are waiting to go out into the ocean- we still have time, it'll all be okay :)

xoxo

What is everyone doing for the summer and beyond? :)

I thought this was an especially nice post because it's my 100th post and my-return-to-the-blog post!

So I now I've been MIA...

But senior spring has killed me.
I thought I'd be fine and cruisin'. I certainly over estimated myself, and under estimated the amount of work I have.

I'll be back on the regular for sure in 10 days when I finish my final finals! (get it? haha)

Necklace: Tiffany's & Co.
Bracelet (left): Kate Spade
Bracelet (middle): Japan
Bracelet (right): Traveling Pearl caravan

I've had a bunch of events that have let me whip out my Lilly dresses recently and it's been great :)

I love wearing Lilly during the winter months because it's so bright and happy and it makes me forget about the winter just a little bit.

Spring is almost here!!!
I really wish I could do cool photos of me posing in pretty backgrounds, but alas, my boyfriend is not the type of guy who will take photos of me like that, and I feel awkward asking anyone else :P

Classically Inspiring: Blue and Yellow

Little Tin Soldier

I love the navy and yellow combination of this girl. It's such a surprising contrast and it works really well.
The polka dot tanktop with the nice lined skirt combined with the golden belt also puts together the look really well. The best part of this outfit is that you can quickly replicate it, because they comprise of staples that almost everyone has in her closet!

Oh, and may I add that I love the nude wedge heel? ;)

Classically Lusting: Kate Spade Catherine Street Pippa

Hello! I am alive!

I was pretty close to dead for a while, but I am alive!
Fear not, I'm back to everyday posting, hopefully.

So here is what I am coveting/loving/lusting over right now:
Kate Spade Catherine Street Pippa

This chic handbag would make any dreary outfit look instantly happier and cuter.
I love that it comes in the soft shades of mint and pink (and beige and black as well!) - it gives such a nice "spring-y" impression without looking like you're jumping the gun on spring.
The curve of the bag also brings in the right amount of femininity to your outfit.

It is a little bit on the pricier end for me at $398, but it's just so cute. By the way, not quite the same, but this bag from Asos kind of reminds me of it and is of a more affordable price at $59.34.

Ahhh so cute.

Classically Loving: Eye Make-Up Remover

My recent eye make-up remover favourite: CVS oil-free eye make-up remover.

I stumbled onto this beauty after my eyelashes started falling out after I changed my mascara a couple of months back.
Everytime I would try to take my new mascara off, clumps of eyelashes would fall off!
I was afraid that all of my eyelashes would fall off so I asked around and found this.

It swipes off all of my eye makeup really fast and it's incredible.
My cotton rounds become dark brown after each use -it's crazy how well they come off.
My cotton rounds from when I used my old make up remover didn't get this crazy black so it's terrifying to think of how much make up must have been left over on my face from before...

Oh, and have I mentioned the price of $5.99?

Love it.

What's your favourite eye make-up remover?

Nail art!

I paint my nails a lot, but I rarely do "nail art."
It might just be because I rarely ever go to a nail salon (and if I do, I like french manicures), but it's never been something I actively wanted to do.

That being said, unless they're too flashy or crazy (I'm not a fan of the nail sculpture stuff), I think they're really pretty to look at!

I found a bunch that I really liked and wouldn't mind doing if I ever got into nail art in the future :)

It's just so cool! One of the new girls in my sorority is apparently awesome at nail art (according to my housemate she has a Facebook album of it haha)- it's just so crazy that people can do this with their hands!

Are you a nail art kind of person? Or are you like me in that you just keep it simple?

Classically Lusting: J. Crew Postage Stamp Sailor Mini

I thought it would be interesting to start a currently loving/lusting series!

I'm currently lusting over the J. Crew Postage Stamp Sailor Mini ($89.50).

I think every young lady should have one of these skirts (regardless of colour).
They're durable, easy to pair with, and just cute.

One can wear this as business casual with a flowy blouse and with nude pumps, or one could wear it with something more casual, like a cami and a cardigan.
They're just so versatile.

For this particular skirt, I just love the golden buttons on both sides of the skirt.
It really sets the skirt apart from all of the other navy ones.
This skirt also comes in red if that is more of something you enjoy!

I have a navy skirt like this from J. Crew that I wear often at work for business casual, and I love it.

Top Pick for Valentine's Day: Lilly Sessilee Dress

One of my top picks for Valentine's Day:

Lilly Pulizer Sessilee Dress ($198)
I think this dress is perfect for a significant other date, a friend date, or a Valentine's Day party.
Though I probably wouldn't be able to go to a five-star hotel with this dress, I assure you, I will not be going there so I think I am good ;)

It's dressy enough that if need be you could just throw on a shawl, cardigan, or blazer and wear nude heels/wedges and make it look appropriate for a nice restaurant.
On the other hand, it's casual enough that you can wear boots and a puffer jacket and go out for dinner and drinks with my friends!

Honestly, $198 would be worth it- you could wear it on classy nights, casual days, and even at work (depending on how dressy your work is!).
I'm pretty sure you could also wear this for casual Fridays too, so there's that :)

Which dress is your top pick?

Valentine's Day Gift for Myself

So my boyfriend and I aren't big gift givers.
We're more the type who like to just sit with each other on holidays etc.

But, I'm considering spluring and pampering myself this year for Valentine's Day!
I've been having a rough couple of weeks so I thought it might be fun to just treat myself.

I think all of these are adorable mini gifts to yourself.
They range from $8 to $40- not too pricy but adorable little things, right?

Valentine's Day Gift for Myself

Old Navy colorblock dress / Pink shoulder bag / J.Crew anchor jewelry / Kate Spade / ALPHA tech accessory / Old Navy

I recently lost my favourite (and only) cross body bag so I'm really learning towards the Target cross body bag (about $9!) - decisions, decisions...!

Are you planning to buy yourself something this Valentine's Day? If so, what? Let me know!

Blizzarded in with NEMO

NEMO is CRAZY.
That is all I can say about the blizzard.

I went outside to walk my puppy and I literally thought I would die. I mean, the train has stopped running. Everything is shut down.
And guys, I worked from home on Friday. I NEVER WORK FROM HOME.
While my housemates lounged around and enjoyed their day off, I sat and did work between 9 to 5. (I'm proud). Thus, I didn't have a "day off."

HOWEVER! since my teaching job got cancelled for today due to Nimo, I can enjoy my "day off."

Here's how I like to take my days off- especially in the winter.

1. Hot Chocolate (and cookies): I'm sorry, but anyone who wouldn't enjoy that on a cold day is crazy. ;-)
2. Warm blanket: I think this is a must-have. I sit on my couch most of the time, so I like to keep a good warm afghan with me. I use my housemate's AOII afghan all of the time.

3. Fuzzy socks: I am so obsessed with them. A post about this will come soon. I especially like the Bath and Body Works Shea Infused Socks.

4. Warm Slippers: I wear mocs, but whatever that makes your feet feel comfortable and happy!

5. Candle: This makes your room smell good and will make you feel relaxed!

6. Netflix: I am guilty of Netflix. And CBS.com. I don't stream movies etc. so these two are vital sources of entertainment for me. I LOVE them. There's just something about sitting inside on a cold day with hot chocolate while watching TV.

7. A Good Book: What more can I say? It's a necessity for a winter "day off." I am currently loving Katie Couric's book that I blogged about before! I got the eBook version before to just read it from the library but I loved it so much that I bought my own copy!

I also keep my laptop and iPhone with me when I get snowed/colded in!

I'm going to try to get some readings out of the way so that I can go sledding with my friends in the afternoon :)

What're your blizzard activities?

Cold Combat Outfit

GUYS. A BLIZZARD IS COMING.
Well, I guess by the time this is published, it will be in the middle of a blizzard.

Even though I was born and raised in New England, I hate the cold.
You have no idea how much I hate the cold.
But I really do. With a passion.

It doesn't help that it takes me 15 minutes to walk across campus to get to class.

Thus, I have given up style when I go outside during the cold winter months.
I go in something that makes me comfortable and the winter cold bearable.
Of course, I do try to choose the most stylish things possible, but you know... winter coats ain't that cute, but hey! At least I'm mildly warm and comfortable ;)

Winter Essentials

The North Face north face coat / Kate Spade bow glove / Trouvé round scarve / ASOS pom hat / Starbucks' UK coffee will be strongest yet, $78,305 / Frye Lindsay Plate

1. North Face Puffer Coat: Now, they make you look like a snowman, but they're warm. It's heavenly in the negative weather! I try not to wear the puffer every year until January (because when I get used to it during the warmer months ie December, when it gets frigid in January, I won't feel as warm), but I love it.

2. Infinity Scarves: I always wear some kind of scarf in the cold, but lately, I've been in love with the infinity scarf ever since I got one for Christmas. For some odd reason, I find them so much warmer.

3. Hat: I didn't wear hats until last year- but they're so important! They keep your head warm which keeps me warm. When it covers your ears, you are golden.

4. Riding Boots: I have recently taken to non-zip up boots for the winter because they're just easier to put on -- one less thing to be disgruntled about when you're not happy to go outside into the cold! Riding boots are more warm in general, so in the winter, I just wear a variety of my riding boots.

5. Gloves: Necessity- enough said. I'm looking to get the tech-ok gloves so I can text etc. in the cold too.

6. iPhone/iPod: I like to listen to music to get my mind off of the cold!

7. Hot drink/Coffee: It keeps my hand warm! And it makes me happy :)

Bows on Bows

I am loving Kate Spade bows.
I've always loved bows on jewelry (I'm not a hair bow person...) or on clothes or on shoes. Basically, anything bows = I love.

I admit, some of these aren't "bows" per se- they're ties, but I still love them.
So adorable!

Bows on Bows

Kate Spade strand necklace / Kate Spade bow bangle / Kate Spade / Kate Spade / Kate Spade white pearl necklace

I think bows on jewelry are the perfect touch of girliness!

I can't choose a favourite but I do especially like the single strand pearls with the ribbon on it!

Which are your favourites?

Classically Inspiring: Lace Skirt and Olive Shirt

I am loving this outfit today:

Photo via

It would be so out of my comfort zone if I ever dressed like this, especially since I am not tall nor slim enough to manage this dress.
However, I love it that she wears a drapy olive shirt tucked into a lace skirt.
Though it's seemingly on the safe side, it's still bold.

Oh, and let's not forget the clutch and the golden bangles, shall we?
This outfit looks so effortlessly pulled together that you could wear it to shopping, some errands, going out for drinks with friends, or even to classes if you go to school.
Bottom line: Love it.

Jack Rogers Livey

My recent lusts: Jack Rogers Lively.

I LOVE Jack Rogers’ flats. They are so comfortable, nice, and durable.
They may be painful to break into at first (it took me a bunch of bandaids and blisters and tears) but after that, it was just beautiful.

These flats are SO cute – I love how they’re quilted and have the “JR” logos.
Oh! And the toe! It's so adorable :)

I love the blue one but knowing me, if I ever got these, I would have to get it in the beige and black so that it will be easier to put outfits together with!

Hearts, Hearts, and More Hearts!

I am a sucker for hearts. I don't really know why, but I just love them.
Always did, always will.
Whenever I see a heart motif jewelry or clothes I just have this urge to buy them.
Most of the time, I stop myself at a certain point, but when it nears Valentine's day season, I feel more and more justified.

Here are a couple of the heart motifs I am currently loving!

Old Navy
J. Crew

Tiffany & Co.

Tiffany & Co.

Lilly Pulitzer

They are all just so adorable!
I am very partial to the Tiffany & Co. open heart because I grew up with one of those- given to me by my parents when I was still in grade school.

The ring is adorable as well- heart motif-ed jewelry are so adorable, although I do love clothing with hearts on them :)

Which are your favourites?
