Couple of recent OOTDs

Recent OOTD's!

I finally got an iPhone thanks to my housemate who gave me her old one, and I'm loving the photo splitting aps that are for free.
Speaking of which, I got an instagram and twitter- follow me at @shmoo1114 for instagram and @classicloving for twitter and we can chat :)

Oxford Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Cable knit: Ralph Lauren
Jeans: Abercrombie Kids (yes, they still fit me)
Boots: Japan

Sweater: Lowry's Farm (Japan)
Lilac Jeans: Honey's (Japan)
Lace-Up Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: The Emporium (Japan)

I recently realized how much of my clothes are from Japan.
It probably doesn't help that I do A LOT of shopping when I'm there, and I have been going about two-three times a year.
(Although when I graduate college, this will all change and I will probably never go again. Sad :( )

They just have a lot of high quality clothes that I can afford to buy, although a lot of what I buy in Japan is very far from my normal "Classic" or "preppy" style.

Do you have one place or store that you buy most of your clothes from?

Classically Loving: Lilly Key Chain

One thing I currently love:

My Lilly keychain.

This came with the LP sale from last summer!
All of my other packages' extras were the shift ornaments but I must've gotten lucky, because for one of my packages, I got this little cutie.

I love that it's a shift dress and it's PINK.

I'm not an over the top pink kind of person, so this is just a perfect pop of pink for me!

It's been odd switching to keys from my Vera wristlet thing, but I don't regret it at all, thanks to my adorable little key chain! :)

Do you use key chains or do you use a wristlet thing?

Going Greek!

Sorry for the lack of posts! I am alive!
The new semester hasn't killed me!

It's recruitment at my school right now, so that has been taking up most of my life.

Image from Lilly & Letters

I am sure that many of you are in sororities across the country.
I am from a family where they were like "sororities? what are they?" so I didn't really know too much about them until I got to school.

Anyways, for me, joining a sorority was the best decision that I've made in college.
I've met a group of wonderful, wonderful, women; gotten experience in jobs that I would never have tried without my sorority; and, developed a sense of myself and self-confidence that I hadn't had before.

Some people say that I'm buying myself friends. I don't think that's true. People pay money to play sports at school. They make friends through these sports. For sororities, it's just that the money we have to pay is more expensive because most of us have HQs and houses to maintain.

The people I go to when I am sad are these women. The people I celebrate my A that I got in that hard class are these women. The people I get up for in the middle of the night to console are these women. They are my sisters, my best friends.

They are the people whom I can go to when I need that motivation to study.

Being in Greek life has also given me the opportunities to give back to the society. We volunteer and fundraise for various causes, and participate in other fraternities' and sororities' charities.

It really is an enriching experience. I don't know how else to put it.

I love it. Every single moment of it, even the bad days. I like it, even if I may not be on the exec group. And that's what makes it so great- because I still love it, no matter what.

I am proud that I decided to go Greek.

Any other Greeks out there?

Classic Lilly 5x5's

Hello hello! I am back!
I am now back at school and started the last semester of my undergraduate career.
I'm still dying from jetlag, but hopefully I will be recovered by the time recruitment starts :)

The Lilly Facebook Page has started a really cute project called Lilly 5x5, where they upload a cute, hand drawn/painted picture every single day onto the FB page.
They are so adorable!

They've only started doing it in the past couple of weeks (I think) so I did not have a lot to choose from, but these beauties are my favourites thus far:

This is so cute! I am a big fan of this one because AOII's mascot is a panda.
The Lilly print for AOII is full of pandas as well!

This was before the 5x5 was launched, but I find it so adorable.
Oranges just make the cutest of pictures, don't you think?

Lemonade and a cute girl drawn in the signature Lilly kind of way.
What more can I say?

I think this one is my second favourite.
I just love the colour combination of blue and pink! And tea. And a pink heart.
What I'm trying to say is that this picture is the epitome of adorable.
If I weren't in AOII and in LOVE with the Lilly print, this one would be my favourite by far! ;)

I hope they continue the 5x5's forever!

Anyone else just allured by the Lilly 5x5?

Classic Sweaters

I am obsessed with sweaters. But actually.
I have a problem. I have a drawer full of sweaters.
The problem is, my sweaters don't fit in them because I have too many!
The thing is, sweaters are just so perfect. You can wear them over jeans, pants, and skirts. They are the perfect top to almost everything and anything.

Here are a couple of my favourites:

Old Navy

J. Crew Factory
Brooks Brothers
Vineyard Vines

Lilly Pulitzer

I love cable knits and striped sweaters. The amount of striped and cable knit sweaters I have is quite frankly alarming.

Forever 21, Target, and Old Navy also carry adorable sweaters at a more affordable price. Though they will probably not last as long as a Ralph Lauren and are not as well made as a Brooks Brothers or a Lilly, they are pretty and will last a season or two :)
I have a bunch of Forever 21 and Target sweaters that I wear on a regular occasion. I also really like Old Navy lately. So adorable!

I currently have my eyes set on the last Lilly sweater :-)

Anyone else as big of a sweater lover as me?

Happy Birthday Kate Middleton!

Today is Kate Middleton's 31st birthday!

I wouldn't say I am absolutely obsessed with her, but she is one of my all time favourite "famous women."

I think she's just so sweet and nice. She also has a great sense of style.
I hope that she had an awesome, awesome birthday and that her year will be just as great! (And why wouldn't it be? She's having her first child this year!)

Anyways, here are a couple of Kate Middleton looks I especially like!

I am more into her casual styles but she looks so nice in dresses as well.
I really do love the last dress :)

Anyways, happy birthday to the future queen of England :)

Traveling: Kyoto

Sorry for the lack of posts recently!
I have been in Japan for the past week, and have been wandering around!

I recently went to Kyoto, the old capital city of Japan.
It was so beautiful!

I've gone to many cities in Japan, but I think Kyoto is my favourite, aside from Tokyo!
It's just so quaint and classic and the old city quarter can't be beaten. It's so beautiful.

Blogging should return to normal fairly soon! :)

Must Read: Couric's the Best Advice I Ever Got

My first must-read of 2013:

Barnes and Nobles
I admit it. I'd never heard of Katie Couric before my sister's graduation. I never watch TV news since I never got into a habit of it in high school as I attended boarding school.
I then used BBC, NY Times online etc for news rather than watching the news.

At my sister's graduation from Boston University in May 2011, I was dozing off for the graduation speeches because it was so cold and I was mildly bored. Then, Katie Couric came onto the podium.

I woke up and listened through her speech until the end.

She mentioned her book The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons from Extraordinary Lives , and I'd wanted to read it, but it slipped my mind as I got busier as school progressed. Then, when I was asking around for book suggestions for my flight in December, a friend suggested it to me.

Long story short, it's hard to find books you want to read in the kindle editions from the library. They're either all checked out or they're simply unavailable. And oddly enough, Katie Couric's book was there. So of course I remembered May 2011 and checked the book out!

Well, like her speech, it did not disappoint me. I'm still only about half way through the book, but I have made up my mind to buy the actual book when I get back home.

It's an autobiograpy of Katie Couric and essay advices she received from people whom she'd met over her years in her job. It's relatively easy to read and it's making me so much more positive about life in general.

Though most gave the same advice of work hard, do not give up, it was a good book overall, because hey, in the world today, we need that message told to us over and over again so that we don't give up.

It makes me want to go out to the world right now and conquer it!

By the way, this is the link to her speech at Boston University. It was fabulous!

This will definitely be my go-to book when I am down and in need of inspiration.

What're your go-to books when you are down?

My 2013 Resolutions

So I know it's already the third and things, but I thought I should just throw out my new year's resolution here!

1. Graduate with a good GPA
I've had a pretty disastrous first two years of college. It really was truly terrible for my GPA and future career. However, I've been working my butt off since junior year and my GPA seems to be slowly recovering, so I'd like to keep it up!

2. Find myself a job
I'm graduating in May. I would love to have a job by the time I graduate!

3. Learn to take time for myself
I seem to overbook myself, and I never get time for myself. If I'm not studying, I'm at work, or I'm with friends or my boyfriend. Junior spring got so bad that I would cry because I had no alone time. It was better this fall, but I know I could've done better.

4. Stop procrastinating as much
I need to make sure that I get this one down because if I'm applying for jobs, as much as I would like to, I cannot procrastinate writing cover letters and fixing my resumes!

5. Be nicer and more caring
I want to spend 2013 repairing strained relationships and what better than becoming nicer to rekindle friendships?!

6. Work out more
We Heartit
I say this every year. It's never been accomplished, because I work so many 15 hour shifts in uniform on campus. Let's see if 2013 will be any different!
I think working out is really important to keep yourself happy, and since I will be taking less shifts for work this semester, hopefully I will be able to achieve this goal!
I'm hoping to finally get into Yoga and start running again.

7. Reach a certain weight
In conjunction to 6, I want to make sure that I keep myself at a weight that I want to be. I'm happy with my weight now, but there's a certain weight that I'd been dying to reach. This year, I want to reach that goal.

What're your 2013 resolutions?

2013!

Happy New Year!

Image via We Heartit

I cannot believe that it is 2013. For me, 2013 is an important year because I am graduating college in May - I definitely thought that 2013 was far, far ahead when I was a freshman in high school. I couldn't believe that 2013 would actually occur.

A new year. A new beginning. A new you.

Although 2012 has passed and the world may not be ending, this year, live everyday like it's your last. Live it to your fullest. I know I will.

Happy New Year!

How was your NYE? What will you be doing this year?
